On April 18, 2003, I posted news of Dr. Robert Atkin's death at 3:55 AM. As Dr. Atkins lay dying, one of his disciples, jazz singer Luther Vandross, suffered a stroke. There's a lot to be said for the Atkins Diet. It keeps cardiologists and hospitals in the money.

Yesterday (February 10, 2004), we learned the truth about one of the great medical hoaxes and charlatans of the 20th and 21st centuries.

An autopsy shows that Dr. Robert Atkins, whose popular diet plan promoted cheese and beef while rejecting carbohydrates, weighed a gargantuan 258 pounds at his death.

Eating meat for health was a lie. Eating meat for a long suffering death--that was truth. Dead doctors don't lie.

Beef animals are diseased. Mad Cow taught us that, but few meat eaters became vegetarians. Cattle carry hundreds of different diseases in their bodies. When eaten, these illnesses grow in our human bodies. Animal protein contains an abundance of sulphur-based amino acids, methionine and cysteine. We eat their flesh, and our blood is slowly poisoned with contaminents that compromise our health. Meat eaters feel bad, look bad, and get sick and die earlier than vegetarians. That was the true story of Dr. Robert Atkins.

Forty years of sticking to his diet had also caused the good doctor to be completely compromised with an advanced case of heart disease, which included congestive heart failure and hypertension. Never write a diet book when you are grossly overweight. How could so many uninformed dieters have been so naively deceived?

More than one hundred years ago, Ellen G. White predicted that there would come a time when all of humankind would be sent a signal from god. Is there no better time than this to pay careful attention to the consequences of meat-eating? God's wisdom is great. So is his sense of humor. Atkins body was proof of the lie and truth. White also wrote:

"The liability to take disease is increased tenfold by meat  eating."

"Worldly physicians cannot account for the rapid increase of disease among the human family. But we know that much of this suffering is caused by the eating of dead flesh."

"The animals are diseased, and by partaking of their flesh, we plant the seeds of disease in our own tissue and blood."

Dr. Atkins was the world's most dangerous pretender, and was forced to remain on his own unhealthy diet as inspiration to his readers. Now, the final evidence is in. Atkins lived by the fork, and died by the fork.
