"Plain" People Reject Current SDA Ideals

Greetings,

Some of you are aware that I have a personal ministry among the Amish, Mennonites, and other "Plain" people in my area, and even ONLINE. The Lord has been blessing by leaps and bounds and I am currently conducting Bible Studies with an Old Order Amish widow lady (who is being VERY brave and is risking the Meidung/Shunning in going against her church Ordnung by studying with an ENGLISCH Protestant......the Ordnung is the Rules of the Church.) I am also studying the Sabbath and the State of the Dead with a Dunkard Brethren Pastor's Wife who is actually praying that her "HUSBAND will see the truth~!" Then there are a couple of Mennonite young women that have become dear dear friends, who have been asking about the Sabbath and have asked for books and information. Most all of them have requested to be put on my Father's Tape Ministry also.

I have also met many Anabaptist Plain women online who are seeking for the Truth and who ask me all the time for information regarding the Sabbath, and who also question me ALLLLLLL the time "why the SDA church no longer lives what it teaches and sets the example it was supposed to set from the beginning." That is actually the question I get asked MOST often and it is very difficult for me to try to explain that the SDA Church IS the true, remnant church with the True Message, but that they must keep a blind eye toward what they "SEE" in our churches. That really makes no sense to them OR to me, to be honest, but what am I to TELL them? Keep in mind that these Anabaptist, PLAIN, Headcovering, Modest-Dressing ladies are coming from a very conservative background and were attracted to the SDA teachings because of our Sabbath message AND because, according to our teachings, our lifestyle and beliefs were just like theirs.' So naturally they excitedly go to visit an SDA church and are either shocked or abhorred to find a completely DIFFERENT church on the inside than that which they read about in all "those wonderful SDA books by EGW."

They constantly ask me WHY the SDA church does not teach the practice of "Headcovering" when it is such an OBVIOUS, unarguable directive from the Bible and it seems that we have all the OTHER beliefs correct, so why not that one? I have no answer for them. They constantly ask me WHY the ladies no longer dress the way EGW counseled from the beginning, or even according to Biblical counsel. I have no answer for them. They constantly ask me WHY the jewelry and wedding bands are now accepted and women are now being ordained, WHY some SDA's are vegetarians, some are not, some eat dairy and some do not, some even eat PORK and some do not, some drink coffee and some do not, WHY some buy on the Sabbath and eat at restaurants and take part in sporting events on the Sabbath, WHY SDA's go to movies, get involved in politics, register to vote, work on the Sabbath, join the military, bear arms, and even SUE their own churches for living and teaching and preaching contrary to everything I just listed above........for living and teaching and preaching the TRUE, Historic, SDA Message, doctrine, belief, and lifestyle that these women have read about and are so attracted to and interested in. And..........once again.........I have no answer.

These women and husbands and dear families often excitedly go visit an SDA church, only to find that they are alone, "wierd," "conservative," "strict," "dress funny," stand out like sore thumbs, and are "fanatical." They go........eagerly expecting to find desperately-needed fellowship with likeminded believers, but instead find that they are worshipping as outcasts within a regular, non-significant, mainstream, Protestant church that is no different from the Baptist or Lutheran churches down the block. So they migrate back to the Old, Plain churches, where they find comfort, fellowship, and "mostly Truth" spoken. And, as you will read in the email I have shared with you below, they are sad that they have to find Sunday churches in which to worship in order to live up to and enjoy the "SDA type" beliefs, doctrines, and lifestyle.........not to mention FELLOWSHIP with likeminded believers............all the while mourning that they cannot worhip on the Sabbath as they KNOW they should and that they must worship alone in their homes.....having no fellowship to share what they believe is RIGHT. Can one blame them for migrating back to the churches from whence they came? They find family fellowship and no longer feel "alone" within these other churches.

The letter I will share with you below is a prime example of a person who is ON-FIRE for the Lord and for the TRUTH and for HIS CHURCH..........however she, too, found only deception and compromise, and uncomfortable unacceptance in the Church she "THOUGHT" was "God's Church." Read below and be touched. Also be saddened. And also...................................................................................PLEASE tell me what to SAY to these dear people~!!!!!!!!

Blessings in Christ and Prayers that each of you will remain strong and true to the church you and I both know is God's remnant with a REMNANT MESSAGE to extend to the world and to these searching, yearning people.

LETTER:

Hi K___!

Thanks for your letter. I have learned many spiritual
principals from examining the beliefs of denominations
that were not my own. As a matter of fact, I have
really started to feel like a "spiritual mongrel" in
that I have beliefs from several different churches.
So often I have wished to have a group of people that
practice the lifestyle of the Amish, believe in being
born again (like the Mennonites) and worship on 7th
day Sabbath like the SDA's! Actually for several
months we have been going to a Mennonite church and I
like it quite alot, but I really miss keeping the 7th
day Sabbath because I think that it's right. But there
was such a lack in the SDA church we were attending
that we just had to make a change. I have recently
been thinking about honoring the Sabbath anyway, even
if we do go to church on Sunday. The thought came to
me that just because the church I'm attending at
present keeps Sunday, doesn't mean I can't honor
Sabbath myself here at home. Have you ever found
yourself in this pickle? What a shame that the SDA
church has let so much of the world creep into it's
fold! I was so excited when I first started reading
the works of EGW because I thought I'd finally found a
church that held to the teachings of holy, simple
living. Imagine my disappointment when I discovered
how worldly the church is today! EGW herself probably
wouldn't recognize it as the same church! I'm sure she
would really be unhappy to say the least. She'd
probably have some scathing messages to give too! sigh

On top of everything else I even have a little
Pentecostal blood in me! I was raised in the
Pentecostal church and I still have a strong love for
the spirited music that we had there. I'm telling you
we really MEANT what we sang! Those songs were real to
us and our hearts were really in it when we sang them!
My mother used to take a tape player to church and
record the whole service from beginning to end and I
still listen to those tapes to this day. I'm so glad I
still have them! I put those tapes on and have revival
while I'm doing my housework! Another thing I like
about the Pentecostals is that you can ask them to
pray and sister will they PRAY!! Mind you I'm not
talking about the modern version of the Pentecostals
(what is now called Charismatics I think), I'm talking
about the old time Pentecostals who still believed in
holy living and separation from the world. Not the
name it and claim it, or the blab it and grab it type
we see today. Those old saints believed in taking up
your cross and following Jesus on the narrow path. Not
seeing how close to the world you can live and still
squeak in to heaven by the "skin of your teeth".

I guess you can understand why I say I feel like a
spiritual mongrel!

Love,
