Some of Adventism's Non-Biblical Beliefs
by Bob De La Torre
1. The Trinity
The belief in a triune God must have been around before John wrote his gospel and three epistles. After all, he was present when Christ was baptized and saw the dove descend upon Christ, but John also heard the voice from heaven addressing His One and Only Son. Following Christ and being His closest disciple, John must have understood things perhaps in a deeper manner than did some of the other disciples. By reading John's writings one gets the sense that John had a very close relationship with both the Father and the Son, and he must have understood perfectly that while Christ could no longer be there physically with him, that the presence of God and His Son around him came by the means of their Holy Spirit, which is a shared trait that they as Deity, have. This trait is called Omnipresence, which is a way for immortality, which Christ now possessed, to make His presence felt in humanity by means of their conscience or thoughts. Zechariah 6:13 makes it quite clear that there are only TWO that have this power, not three.
Even he shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.
BUT, there is a qualifier: The Father and His Son , while similar are entirely of different identities or Spirits. The Father. alone, can claim immortality . It is the Spirit of the Father that gives you the Spirit of Love towards your fellow man. Christ, had to learn and acquire this very Spirit; just before He died on the Cross, His last request before dying, shows this to be the Truth. Christ did ONLY what His Father impressed Him to do. He no longer acted of His own free will, as shown by His actions as the angry God of Israel that the world still sees God as. (Please see Luke 9:18-27; Matthew 16:17; Proverbs 3:1-35 - Only by looking at and through Christ can we understand the Father)
The Bible does contain the correct answer for every question that a Believer may have. If one accepts that Jesus Christ is part of the Deity, which is shown to be the case in Zechariah 6:13 and other texts, then it only makes sense that what WE have been told about God is not to be believed, it simply is not True. This verse states that there are only Two in the Godhead or Deity, not Three. That comes from man's Twisted Thinking. Jesus was once Michael, the God of Israel. He is referred to as a Prince; a Prince cannot be the King, but the Son of a King, correct?
13 Even he shall build the temple of the Lord; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both. (Zechariah 6:13)
4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord:
5 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. (Deuteronomy 6:4,5)
22 The Lord possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.
23 I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.
24 When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water.
25 Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:
26 While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world.
27 When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth:
28 When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep:
29 When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth: (Proverbs 8:22-29)
28 And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?
29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. (Mark 12:28-30)
This is a common belief in Protestantism, so it is not shocking that it has been adopted by Adventists. A person needs to only go back to the very first Commandment to understand that God wanted to make this perfectly clear by making it His First Commandment. We know that Christ understood this by the way in which John 17 reads. Which means that the Apostle John also had a clear understanding of this. Christ gave honor to His Father His entire time upon this earth. John 20:17 could not bear more evidence of this, as Christ acknowledges that He is going to spend some moments with His Father, who He specifically reminded His disciples was also their Father, in Heaven. He makes this assertion again in Revelation 12:3.
Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God. (John 20:14)
Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name. (Revelation 3:12)
Probably, the strongest statement that could be made is made by Paul in 1 Corinthians 15:28, when he states that after the millennial reign of Christ; the destruction by death; which is the destruction of this earth by brimstone and fire; that all the glory and power will return to it’s rightful owner. God Almighty.
And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.
3. That the Holy Spirit is God
This fact and I am aware that I used the word FACT, was mentioned in the previous comments and it is hard to comprehend how this could be fathomed. Nowhere in Scripture is the Holy Spirit or Spirit addressed as God. I fear that the confusion comes into play when God is depicted as a Spirit as well. Angels are spirits as well, but be it far from me to depict them as gods! The Holy Spirit is what the Scriptures calls a mysterious presence by which Christ is allowed to be with His fellow man to encourage him in his walk of Righteousness. Again, it is by a power that is only possessed by Divinity, called Omnipresence which is often associated with Omniscience.
4. That upon dying, the dead will be raised and know or recognize Loved ones
This belief is as evil as the belief in hell is, if not more insidious, because some that think that through the teaching of hell, may think that after death, all that can be done to an individual can only impact their soul, which they believe continues to live after death. BUT, the belief that an individual will see and recognize their deceased loved ones is by far more troubling. Please read very carefully these words from Scripture:
For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.
For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.
If there is a single point that needs to be remembered Above all is that IF in the future you should find yourself standing in a hole (grave) and you feel odd that something or someone you know may be next to you, that this is because well over a thousand years have passed by you and that you were in fact resurrected, but as you will soon discover, it was in the Second Resurrection, of which there is NO hope.
5. That there is an initial or first & separate resurrection of those that pierced Him, who are eternally lost
The only Scriptural reference for this belief is Revelation 1:7, with much amplification or blind sidedness. but when this verse is looked at a little closer ...
Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
...we find instead that Christ’s last human request is to be answered in a magnificent and magnanimous manner by His Glorious Father. Jesus said to His Father in Luke 23:34...
Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.
In Revelation 1:7, John is telling us what he is being shown as Christ is descending in the clouds. Those that crucified Him, knowing NOT what they were doing nor Who they were killing, are being shown the mercy that can only come from a loving Father and His Son. It is hard to see how anyone could have taken this verse to mean anything else, other than a desire to be indoctrinated. By this thinking, the entire method of God proving that we considered as precious to Him as His Only Begotten Son, is once again contravened.
Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
6. That Christ will reign forever on the Earth made New
I wonder if this belief originates with the erroneous teaching that Christ is God as well. Trinitarians basically break it down to One God comprised of Three individual Persons. And that is what I was taught in school, so I am as qualified as the next informed individual to state this as a fact. But, to again bring up what is stated in 1 Corinthians 15:28, the kingdom comes back to it's Creator for the remainder of time. See point # 2 above.
7. That our planet was created at creation
It does not appear that this heavenly body was created at the same time that Creation Week took place. Genesis 1:1,2 begins the possibility that there are two beginnings being taken into account. If, as verse 2 states, the earth was void and without form, yet it contained water that needed to be separated, then it stands to reason that this mass of dirt, rock and water was already in existence, which can give some credence to geologist's claims that this earth is possibly millions of years old.
1. In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
8. That Christ was crucified on Friday and resurrected on Sunday
I have personally tried to explain this to incredulous folks for over 20 years. I do not know why the statement by Christ of ‘three days and three nights’ has to mean anything other than three complete daily cycles? Maybe this time it will be better if I suggest that we go back to the time cycle that began with creation. A daily cycle is composed of two segments, darkness and light or night and day, in that order. God deemed that the night portion would lead the day portion. Why the English language makes no distinction between the word ‘day’ is not clear to me, but the same word is meant to determine an entire daily cycle as well as the light portion of that cycle.
Matthew 28:1 reads:
In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulcher.
This verse is saying that several different events were occurring simultaneously:
a) The weekly Sabbath hours have ended.
b) A new day cycle is beginning.
c) The day that was beginning to start was the First day of the week, which is now called Sunday.
d) The time period of this cycle is called ‘dawn’, which is understood by most people to mean the beginning of the new day portion of this cycle.
But, if we go back to the time of creation and the timing depicted by God, Himself, which the Jews were more than well acquainted with, we can see a different picture taking place. What Matthew is explaining, as well as he can to an non Jewish audience is that the dawning of a NEW daily cycle is beginning, or rather that the NIGHT portion of this cycle was beginning. So, if you live near the equator, which is a reality for the location of Israel, you can expect this time change from daylight to nighttime to take place close to 6:00PM with the beginning of the daylight to take place about 12 hours later, or 6:00AM.
If (and that IS a big if) Christ was crucified on a Friday, and it has been established by most scholars and novices to have taken place near the beginning of the Sabbath hours, which is called sunset ... then three cycles would take us to Sabbath sunset, Sunday sunset and finally MONDAY at sunset! Of course, if one believes in Inclusive Reckoning there are other problems that must be adequately answered. Here are a few:
a) During His ministry on Earth, Christ kept ALL the ceremonial events in the Jewish calendar, called Sabbaths. These are special dates set aside as special by God Himself, call them holidays in today’s lingo. These were educational days for the people to gather together and learn more about their Maker and Father. These events were scheduled around different events in the harvest season in most cases or they were timed to coincide with other similar ‘holidays’ in their annual calendar. I should state here that not all sacred events were special holidays or Sabbaths as we will see here with the cutting of the “wave sheaf”. The first festival or holiday of the year is Passover; but along with Passover, the celebrations called Feast of Unleavened Bread was closely tied to it, as well as the cutting of the ‘wave sheaf’ coming at the end of the weekly Sabbath which followed Passover. So, essentially, this celebration came three days after Passover as well. Leviticus 23:11 lays this out clearly:
And he shall wave the sheaf before the LORD, to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the sabbath the priest shall wave it.
a) What this verse is telling me is that after the next day, after the Sabbath has ended. Please recall that the ‘next day’ began at sunset, or after the weekly Sabbath was ended, that this event took place. This was done by a sentry on the wall, calling the signal that the sun had set, to the priest below at a nearby field where he held a blade by which he proceeded to cut the wheat sheaf and then would carry it over his head to the temple, followed by many celebrants. At the temple, the priest would offer it up to the Lord as a tribute to God for all the harvests that were to come that season. The key point to see is that this is the very same celebration that Christ was personally participating in when He told Mary to not detain Him, as He had yet to see His Father in Heaven, who He directly claimed to be His Father and HIS GOD. The fact that this event occurred after sunset also tells us that He was a risen Savior before the sun had set and to maintain the 3 day/3 night cycle which He had predicted in Matthew 12:39,40. I also understand that the timing was very important to Christ and His Father, especially following the fact that He had just be risen from the one thing that would forever deny Him eternal immortality ... which a God has to have to be called God.
b) In order to make the Inclusive Reckoning concept valid, an individual should also make this scenario valid: In observance of the Sabbath, this individual can start by going to his church that Friday evening. The following day, being his/her busiest workday of the week, he/she goes to work. After all he/she has already kept the Sabbath the evening before. That Sabbath evening to make sure everything is kosher, he/she again attends his/her church for a sunset service. He/she has thus attended a worship service at the beginning as well as the ending of the Sabbath. Is that not in essence a compression of the weekly Sabbath to suit our own needs? How is this different than compressing the three days and three nights into a day and a half time span?
c) Christ was never an earthly king though He was called one by the people wishing to make Him a king. Thus there is no logical reason to attribute to Him the same reigning time lengths that earthly kings were given. While Christ often spoke in a mysterious manner, not once did He imply something that was earthly in nature to His heavenly mission, especially in a manner that would obfuscate a previous declaration or prediction. One thing that He would never do is to bring dishonor to His Father by impugning Him as a false Prophet.
I am not surprised that this Church does not believe in a Wednesday crucifixion, after all no other denomination accepts this... Perhaps it is because their prophet has given them the assurance to make this assertion. In order to do this they also had to make Daniel's prediction in Daniel 9:27 to make the word midst to indicate this as a future prophetic time period, which changes completely what Daniel was shown. At the same time, the writers of the Bible have made their best effort in the context of their own time frames to show that Christ's prediction of Three Days and Three Nights, meant exactly Three Days and Three nights. Wednesday thru Thursday was Day One; Thursday thru Friday was Day Two; and Friday Thru Saturday (weekly Sabbath) was Day Three. With sunset Sabbath being the Dawning of the New day the First day of the week. The midst of the week is still the same day, today as it was in Daniel's time.
And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate. (Daniel 9:27)
9. That the Bible stipulates or commands Tithe paying
Nowhere in Scripture is this stipulated for the average individual. Biblically, this was only required from those that were directly blessed in their business by the direct goodness of God as is seen in the harvesting of and husbandry fields of labor, then God does expect a return to of a tenth to be provided for the care of widows and orphans. What is specifically noted in the Bible is that under no case was monetary means accepted as a tithe. Only food items were accepted in every single case, even in the early days of this earth, and in the occasions that people like to refer to, there was money available. So, that food was not the only means of barter or of exchange.
10. Not keeping Festival Sabbaths
For some reason that I do not yet comprehend, Adventism denies the sanctity of the Festival or ‘holiday’ Sabbaths. I can understand why, it does encroach on one's work and pleasure schedules. They are commonly referred to as Ceremonial Sabbaths by most Adventists today, and I believe this is done on purpose by the SDA Church to distinguish them from the weekly Sabbaths that this Church maintains to be sacred, which of course implies that the others are not. Odd thing is that not once in Scripture are these Festival Sabbaths ever called ‘Ceremonial Sabbaths’, but neither did I find any phrase such as ‘Festival Sabbath(s)’ or even for ‘Festival(s)’. Rather, the Scriptures call these days as ‘feasts unto the Lord’. In the Bible they are known as ‘seasons’ and they were instituted before Adam and Eve were created. As shown by the wording in Genesis 1:14 which accounts for what took place on the 4th day of Creation. The Bible is also filled with references for the perpetuity of these feasts to continue for ever, even in a sinful world, which was the kind of world that existed when direct reference is made to them during the exodus of Israel from Egypt. I tend to think that the SDA Church was already burdened by the weekly Sabbaths and could not see it’s way clear to requiring another series of special Sabbaths, especially if they were to land on a day other than the weekly Sabbath. This mentality is seen in how they believe the day of Christ's crucifixion and resurrection to be and how they disdain from considering the Two Sabbaths of Passion Week, as described in the Gospels, each with their own ‘preparation day’. (see Matthew 27:62; Luke 23:54,56 both speak of the Passover's Preparation Day) Luke 24:1 alludes that they came to prepare His body following the weekly Sabbath. This is because as observant Jews, they kept both Thursday and Saturday that week, holy, which only gave them Friday to get the spices and ointments prepared. Mark 16:1 also points to a different day than does Mark 16:2. Mark 16:1 is speaking of the feast day or Sabbath, while Mark 16:2 is referring to the weekly Sabbath by it’s reference to the 1st day of the week.
1And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.
2And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulcher at the rising of the sun.
11. The Investigative Judgment is not a biblical teaching. Christ is our Example not our Investigator
This is a belief that began with the early pioneers who were made to believe in the ‘Shut Door Theory’. Once they realized that Christ had not come in their projected time, they began to think, what would happen to their children, under this belief. Over a few years time, this belief had been replaced with the belief in an Investigative Judgment.
12. Investigative Judgment began on October 22, 1844
Again, an erroneous belief based on erroneous prophetic timing as determined by false teachers. William Miller confessed to this before his death. (I sincerely doubt that you will find documentation of this in Adventism's literature).
13. EGW was not a Prophet of God
Deuteronomy 18:22, Jeremiah 23:32, Jeremiah 23, vs Ellen White's biblical interpretation. Many of the Bible’s historical records are changed in her writings. Genesis 3:6; Jeremiah 48:34 & Isaiah 15:5, to only name a few, vs Patriarchs & Prophets 55; not to mention the entire account of Christ’s Passion Week in The Desire of Ages! She also predicted the number of moons surrounding several planets and this may be the most tangible scientific reason for disbelieving her to be inspired. She had recently heard a talk by Joseph Bates and simply quoted him, a practice she continued to do for the rest of her life of taking other's words and writings and using them as her own. After all, Bates could only account for what his crude telescope, by today's standards, could show him.
14. Eating of Shell fish or shrimp and pork
One of Ellen White's favorite foods were oysters.
This is inherent to the general health principles of the Church as constituted by EGW. But no one in the Church's structure will divulge that among Mrs. White's favorite foods were chicken and oysters. (Herbert Douglas' book Messenger of the Lord, pp. 315-316.)
This belief is no doubt based on EGW's view of scavengers, such as pigs, being forbidden by God. Yet, what is never mentioned is that EVERYTHING and I mean that Literally. in Scripture is to be taken Spiritually, though it cannot be denied that much did occur literally as well. The key point is that what does that matter to us? The Scriptures is a Spiritually written book that opens the door into how God is trying to heal our thinking. Once our thoughts are pure, then our actions will become pure. You cannot separate the two. Please read carefully Colossians 2:16-19 and note how inclusive Paul's list of man's works are stated.
16. Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holy day, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
17. Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
18. Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,
19. And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.
15. State of the dead
That some, like the ‘brute’ or the slave, will be as if they had never existed. In other words they will not be raised in the Second Resurrection of death to answer for any of their sins. If God IS LOVE, why would they not be as able to think and reason as you or me? Are they less deserving of Life than we are? Were they not just as deceived about God as we have been?
16. The fate of the lost. That some will be consumed in an instant, while others will burn for days
God is a God of ultimate LOVE, there is no love greater than His. And his mercy is just as great for those that loved Him as those that did not. So, why would He exact a different punishment for some than He does for others? Isn't’t eternal death punishment enough or must additional pain and torture be added to their sentence? Only a loving God can exact eternal punishment and do it in love. The fact is that this earth will be restored by fire, but hell fire is a figment of an overactive mind that did not take the time nor make the effort to research the words found in Scripture. Death will occur upon an individual realizing that they are eternally lost. The thought of this will resemble a heart attack, where the heart will simply fail to provide life.
17. The SOP
And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellow servant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. (Revelation 19:10)
It is only by unholy indoctrination that a person can be convinced that this verse says something different than what it states, which is:‘The Spirit of Prophecy is the Testimony of Jesus; This Testimony IS the WORD of God.’ Revelation 19:10; Revelation 12:17.
The reality is that not a single word or thought was ever given to Ellen White. She fits perfectly the profile given in Revelation 22:18,19. Not to mention being a liar, which bears it's own separate curse from God.
18. God does NOT have a religion nor a Church
He has a People
God has true people (followers) in all walks of life and in all religions. Every Church in history has by the very nature of what religion represents, has proclaimed itself to be the one and only Church of God. Only God holds the measuring rod and has the scale of righteousness.
19. There is no ‘Plan of Salvation’ defined in Scripture other than what is stated in John 14:15
If ye love me, keep My commandments.
...and all of these Commandments are based on Loving God and Loving one's neighbor as much as he loves himself. This is the enigma of the New Covenant that Christ came to this earth to demonstrate and live. Keeping the Commandments will not cause one person to love his neighbor; BUT, by loving your neighbor as you love yourself it will also cause you to KEEP His Commandments.
Romans 13:8 —
Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.
Romans 13:10 —
Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
The above phrase is given 13 times in Scripture; not once is the phrase ‘plan of salvation’ written.
20. End of Probation
The phrase ‘end of, or, close of probation’ is another of many invented proclamations in order to strengthen the Church’s teaching of 1844 as the start of the Investigative Judgment. This teaching also fails hopelessly in their teaching of the heavenly sanctuary. Daniel 12:1 tells us precisely when probation ends ... not the book, The Great Controversy. Once we give the credit to where it belongs will this Church understand how far it has strayed from God's principles; I wonder how long it will take for this Church to receive a blessing? Much unlike the manner that this fine country was blessed by God for it's Construction and Bill of Rights, which gave credit to God for this country's existence.
21. All religions (No Exemptions) are Babylon. All religions have man's imposed beliefs and doctrines
It was religion that drove Christ out of the synagogue in Nazareth and allowed Him to reach thousands in the country sides. Indoctrination is the byword of religion. It is of man's origin in each and every case on this earth.
22. Inclusive Reckoning is not valid in the 3 day / 3 night timing cycle
This is because when a daily cycle ends it ends with the day portion. A day cycle begins with the Night and ends with the Day portions. Sunset is the start of a new day. The dawn of the day BEGAN at sunset.
23. Christ gave more warnings against being deceived or believing a false prophet than He did on keeping the Sabbath ... which is a deception all of it's own
That was His main concern as is seen in Matthew 24:24.
“For there shall arise false Christ's, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.”
Christ had given an earlier admonition on the Mount of Olives when He said in Matthew 7:15 which says:
Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Yet, SDA's literally blow these statement away because it CANNOT possibly apply to them! How could they, God's True Church possibly have a false prophet? Isn't she the Spirit of Prophecy? I thought that Christ and His Father made this perfectly clear in Revelation 19:10! This is what always happens when we allow others to do our reading and studying...
24. The Sabbath Commandment is a prophecy, not a literal weekly event
This may be the most difficult concept to understand and to take in. After all, it is what distinguishes the Adventist denomination from all the other Protestant Churches. But none ever seems to consider that God's ways are NOT man's ways. If God loves us as is the main premise for this article, then it should be considered that God does things in a different way than man's thinking allows him to do.
The entire creation story needs to be looked at Spiritually. This then means the creation account is to be seen as Allegorical or as a Parable. Every day of creation week shows a continuing progression of growth in man's understanding. This is shown as a progression in the forms of life that are being seen in nature. Now, when we come to the Seventh Day, we read in Genesis 2:1-3
1. Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
2. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
3. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
An individual needs to see this Spiritually, through God's eyes, to see that He is looking towards the end of the world, when He can finally reach His rest and all the Hosts (the 144,000) have reached the Fullness of His Character ... Perfection. Contrary to popular belief, God has never ceased to work since the earth was created. He has been God to all mankind 24/7. God does NOT take one day a week OFF. That concept is silly when really looked at seriously. Thus, as Revelation 10 shows, it is at the end of Time for this planet that Rest takes place. This idea or concept may not sink in until many other false doctrines are destroyed in our minds ... like God is Love and He does NOT keep a record of our sins anywhere... We keep that record within our minds, what others have done to us and what we have done to others.
25. There is no Sanctuary or temple in the New Earth
After probation ends, since the ministry of Christ is completed, and God Almighty cries out “It is finished!” the temple fills with smoke and no one enters it until the 7 plagues are done. Then in Revelation 21:22, we read:
And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.
26. Of the 27 Fundamental beliefs, perhaps one third are not biblical, (16 of 27) (Listed in their proper order as given in the SDA Church Manual)
In all listed points, there was something fundamentally wrong with the belief, while in several the belief was simply not supported, though references were given to prove otherwise, such as in Tithing and the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Christ. In other words, the belief is supported in a manner that is not consistent with Scripture. [Man's twisted thinking] (The following list of Doctrines comes from SDA.org)
1. Holy Scriptures:
Good standard to follow, but tell us that your beliefs are based on this standard when they are obviously not, as has been repeatedly demonstrated in this document.
See topics # 1 thru 3 above
See Exodus 20:3, WHO is the ‘I AM’? Only the Father and His Son have divinity.
The Son was sent by His Father after He offered His life as a ransom for sinners. Let us make sure we understand Who is Who and that there are ONLY TWO who bear witness in heaven.
5. Holy Spirit:
The Spirit is the means by which both the Father and now, the Son, can interact with their followers on Earth. It is a power, not a person.
The only issue with this belief is that they teach that the earth was created at the time of the Creation. Day 4 of Creation intimates that but on what object did Creation Days 1-3 take place on?
Genesis 1:2 is the key. So, geologic data may be more accurate than believed by the SDA Church.
9. Life, Death, and Resurrection of Christ:
They believe and teach it to have taken place, BUT, their teachings mimics the world's view which is not the Biblical view, which is one reason why Doctrine #1 is a false doctrine.
Christ was looking at this Church when He spoke the words in Matthew 24:24; as did His Father in Jeremiah 23:32, if not the entire chapter.
13. Remnant and Its Mission:
It is one thing to consider yourself as the Remnant and an entirely different thing to be a Remnant in God's eyes.
16. The Lord's Supper:
Why is there a quarterly ritual instead? Christ only asked that this be done in memory of Him while He celebrated Passover and desired to institute a living testimony of His death for all mankind. So, why is His wish denied Him? Could it have anything to do with the Church’s refusal to acknowledge God’s feast days?
17. Spiritual Gifts and Ministries:
The Church]s so-called prophet, was probably the world’s greatest plagiarist when you consider her as the world’s most prolific woman writer. Even one of the the Secretaries of the EGW Estate admits to this.
18. The Gift of Prophecy:
Ellen White predicted the Second Coming three separate times before 1850...among many other false predictions. If still in doubt, read Deuteronomy 18:22. This is the measuring stick that has to be used for any prophet. The issue that faces each and every individual is if he or she will risk the austerity of checking it out for themselves in the place of being ridiculed.
“When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.”
19. The Sabbath:
This is the only Biblical doctrine by which this Church makes it’s claim for being God’s true church. But at the same time, it denies His designated feast days of spiritual holidays. It is unfortunate that the actions of a few that prefer to dress themselves much like the Moslems do, have influenced the entire to turn their backs on this system of worship and study. It is by the Church assuming a weak position in this doctrine that they have denied themselves the blessings that are derived from it. But again, doctrinal belief # 1 has to be shown as a false belief. There must be a reason why the word 'Perpetual' is used 28 times in Scripture. Please see Exodus 31:16.
There is much on the web site regarding this and this cannot be disputed no matter how hard one tries, as long as they use the Bible to try and disprove it.
21. Christ's Ministry in the Heavenly Sanctuary:
Once the Father says “It IS Done!” Christ will shed His priestly robes to exchange them with His kingly garnets. Probation has ended. And No, there is no need for the 144,000 to guard themselves from sinning. Probation is over. Nothing one does will be able to change his/her destiny.
26. Death and Resurrection:
See discussion point # 4 above and memorize Rev. 1:7 until it can be recited forwards and backwards. Christ's request for His executioners was granted by His Holy Father. I found it ironic that this specific fundamental belief would use Ecclesiastes 9:5,6 as a reference! This scripture completely dismembers the Church's teachings that family members and friends will know and recognize each other in heaven. What part of
6'Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.'
Are they not comprehending? This would be a good time for them to reconsider whether their prophet was in fact an inspired prophet or not.
Everything that a prophet or messenger from God says or writes must be verified for accuracy; God cannot take a chance of being misconstrued as not being a God of absolute Truth, if He can be misaligned by even ONE false statement, whether historical or spiritual. As shown above and backed up by her own writings, this cannot be stated about Ellen G. White.nor the Seventh-day Adventist Church, who is on record as being her main advocate.
An astute student of Scripture, who studies for wisdom and is not dependent on his personal position of whether he/she is involved, should realize that Revelation 18:4 is a 'last call' to come out of whatever is contrary to God's manner of worship to Him.
"And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues."
Because mention of Babylon, specifically, is not made until verse 10, it can be assumed safely that the prior verses are speaking of all the other churches that mimic Babylon, today. Perhaps another way of reading this is to see that any doctrine of man is op[posed to God's True Law. In other words, as seen above, in a Church that is considered by most to be very conservative and religious and seeks to follow God's Law, in fact is flawed in His eyes. So, it is not a great departure to say that all churches today are considered to be Babylon by God. This is hard for most to understand, but if they are honest with themselves and realize that God is looking directly at them to see what they will do, they will weep for forgiveness. The point that I wish to leave is that ALL religions are considered to be Babylon, by GOD, who holds the weigh scales in His hands. As demonstrated above, this is especially true within Sabbath keeping churches as well. It does not matter to God where one's beliefs are, if they are based on man's teachings, then they are not based on His. Christ IS the Spirit of Prophecy, specifically, and He warned His followers what it would take in the latter days to follow Him, when He said in Matthew 10:17-42. Please pay specific attention to verse 41:
"He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward."
Is it possible that there is a different reward set aside for a prophet that calls themselves a Messenger of the Lord, yet is historically inaccurate in spiritual things?

You can lead a horse to water, BUT you cannot force him to drink it. The Bible states it in this manner in Proverbs 26:11 -
As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly.
