Romans 8: 9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
¹⁰ And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
¹¹ But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

Notice that if Christ be in you the body is dead, but if the spirit of the one who raised Jesus from the dead dwell in you He will also quicken your mortal body. This is the picture given us in Revelation 14:1 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads. This group of people will never taste of death for God will quicken their mortal bodies in the twinkling of an eye.

To have the Father's name written in the forehead is to have His character. To have His character is to have His spirit. To have His spirit is to possess His understanding. His understanding begins to dawn on us at the cross. It is the last generation church that will be given the meaning of Calvary and who will manifest the love of God, the fulness of His divine character.

Christ gave a testimony of His attitude and character when He told the parable of the prodigal son in Luke 15:11-32. It is the testimony of the elder brother that will get your attention: Let's pick this up starting at verse 25 Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musick and dancing.
26 And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant.
²⁷ And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound.
²⁸ And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and intreated him.
²⁹ And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:
³⁰ But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.
³¹ And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.
³² It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.

If the prodigal son is humanity the elder brother could only be one person, Christ. Notice what He says in verse 29: Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment.
There was an adverse spirit in Christ's heart toward humanity. He, the only begotten Son of God, had dwelt with love (God) all of His life. He knew the kindness and love His Father possessed and could not understand the actions of people who turned from God and resisted His love. But on the cross He prayed that God would forgive them for they know not what they do. I believe that is something His Father had been telling Him from the beginning but the Son of God, like humanity, learns by means of experience. That is why Christ could say “It is finished.” He at that moment possessed the understanding of God's love for this world. At Pentecost it was the spirit of the Father poured out through the Son that was given to those who had ears to hear (Acts 2:33).

There are two prayers in the book of Ephesians and they both begin with the spirit of the Father:

Ephesians 1:17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him(self):

Ephesians 3:14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
¹⁵ Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
¹⁶ That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;

By having the Father's spirit we will begin to experience resurrection power and eventually comprehend the breadth, length, depth, and height of His love. Knowing also the love of Christ we would be filled with the fulness of God (Ephesians 3:19). This is what is referred to in Colossians 2: 9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead (or divinity) bodily. You see, it pleased the Father that in him should all the fulness dwell (Colossians 1:19).

It is the spirit of love that delivers from faults and sin. Love is learned and experienced at Calvary's cross. That will part two.
