My SDA friends,
It is just too clear for any SDA, or Sabbatarian Christian, commandment keeper, to believe in a trinity (or binity Godhead).
I knew before half way through part 1 of Red Flag Waving DVD, by the late Bill Stringfellow (available via A4T.org) that this long standing protestant belief (including the overwhelming SDA independent, and conference belief of), to be absolutely a dangerous pagan/Rome teaching.
Also, from A4T.org, though it took me 10 days of research to convince myself, I found that following the Protestant (SDA) teaching that Jesus was crucified on Friday, and rose on Sunday early in the daylight morning hours, was also absolute pagan/Rome theology.
To be honest, and that is what A4T.org is about--Truth, I blindly (for 27 years) accepted both SDA teachings (and other false, inaccurate, or altered teachings, because of Ellen White's writings). I thank God that I continued seeking truth and was led to what the Bible says. I will stick to that only, and highly recommend that all seekers of Truth may be led to A4T.org or wherever they need to go, to see these clear, VITAL, Truths.
Though my so called SOP books (Ellen White's writings ARE NO MORE the SOP than Friday was the day Jesus was crucified... or that there is a triune or biune Godhead), are now put away, which brings me to study the Bible and the Bible ONLY - (she highly recommends the Bible and the Bible ONLY, although she presented a double standard regarding such).
"The Bible was not written for the scholar alone; on the contrary, it was designed for the common people. The great truths necessary for salvation are made as clear as noonday; and none will mistake and lose their way except those who follow their own judgment instead of the plainly revealed will of God.
We should not take the testimony of any man as to what the Scriptures teach, but should study the words of God for ourselves. If we allow others to do our thinking, we shall have crippled energies and [90] contracted abilities. The noble powers of the mind may be so dwarfed by lack of exercise on themes worthy of their concentration as to lose their ability to grasp the deep meaning of the word of God. The mind will enlarge if it is employed in tracing out the relation of the subjects of the Bible, comparing scripture with scripture and spiritual things with spiritual.
There is nothing more calculated to strengthen the intellect than the study of the Scriptures. No other book is so potent to elevate the thoughts, to give vigor to the faculties, as the broad, ennobling truths of the Bible. If God's word were studied as it should be, men would have a breadth of mind, a nobility of character, and a stability of purpose rarely seen in these times." {SC 89.2--90.1}
"Do not make the Sabbath school lessons dry and spiritless. Leave the impression upon the mind that the Bible, and the Bible alone, is our rule of faith, and that the sayings and doings of men are not to be a criterion for our doctrines or actions. One grand lesson must be taught to the children, and that is that they must be free from every particle of egotism and bigotry. Teach them that Christ died to save sinners, and that those who are not of our faith are to be labored for with great tenderness and forbearance, for their souls are precious in the sight of God.[85] No one must be regarded with contempt. There must be no Pharisaism, no self-righteousness.” {CSW 84.2}
I am still a Sabbatarian and waiting for the second coming - an SDA by definition that does not place Ellen White in the prophet status or claim her writings to be on par with the bible. (All shades of SDA's will say, "She didn't claim to be, nor was a prophet, but a Messenger only," YET, in the same breath, they will say, "she passed all Biblical tests of a prophet."
An old saying, "If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck..." applies here.
The Bible clearly teaches that there are two kinds of prophets; the one, for which Ellen White is classified and believed by SDA's (all shades) as being one, clearly and Biblically ENDED with John the Baptist (Matt. 11:13). The other is BIBLICALLY as clear- it is NEVER only one individual (Acts 13:1; 11:27; 1 Cor. 14:29-31), Revelation 19:10 does not portray this at all and that class ONLY expounds and teaches and prophesies THE WORDS of the Bible (The Testimony of Jesus Christ - The SOP)- THEY ADD NOTHING--THEY SUBTRACT NOTHING. (Can ANY SDA who has even a smidgen of Ellen White books honestly say that there isn't much, MUCH in her counsels that can be found no where in the Bible, nor spoken by ANYONE else)?? Again, think of this - did the 50,000,000+ commandment/SOP martyrs have additional counsel for there final days - NO, they had the one and only SOP, (testimony of Jesus) no less than the remnant in the last days have. Jesus is our prophet for these last days (Matt.28:20) Whether her writings (counsels) have good advice (and there clearly is some), or un-realistic advice (and there clearly is some), Ellen White writings ARE NOT the SOP - she was in no way a prophet as John and several before him, were. (again, Matt.11:13)
Many SDA's will say, I
only believe what she says, when she says, "I
was shown or I saw..."
But many of her counsels that say for one to do the opposite of, is in reality
breaking God's law - His commandments. And these counsels don't say, "I
was shown..." ALL SDA's KNOW THIS.
In all honesty, I cannot worship with any group of any size, anymore (now that I have clearly learned such) that accept, teach, etc., pagan/Rome teachings and add to the words of the Bible. I am not a member of, but currently, I worship with a small 8 person group of the church of God (ChurchofGod-7thDay) - Not the COG7 Denver (they, as the SDA General Conference has become ecumenical; or any part of the Armstrong’s binatarian groups, but only the very small COG7 headquartered in Salem, WV) I may disagree with an individual on a side issue. The main reasons why I saw this group as True Believers and why they stand apart from SDAs are they broke from the group of believers from the very beginning of Ellen White's ministry that followed Ellen White and James White, because they did not accept the teaching that Ellen White was equal to a prophet, and they saw Christ’s crucifixion as taking place on Wednesday, not Friday, and they did not accept the quarterly communion that Ellen White brought over from the Methodist; they also did not agree with the name SDA – The words. Church of God are used 12 times in the Bible – The Church of Christ once. - I may never become a member of their church, but I see their doctrines to be in line with the Bible and what I have found to be truth in the Sabbath school quarterlies, and in their sermons (they can be listened to on line: COG7.org) Though I believe they to be God's church, I will never place a denomination above the Bible. Once was enough!
As A4T.org writes:
"When a man who is honestly mistaken, hears the truth, he will either quit being mistaken or cease to be honest!"

An Addendum written to the Webmaster
It amazes me Bob, that she, as an excellent, EXCELLENT student of the Bible could not have corrected, talked of, humbled herself to admitting this error in her many writings. It matters not if she compiled works from others (as she well did), but still something that I could learn in 10 days, and you and a few others in the SDA, and all in both COG7's and the Armstrong churches easily see, she somehow misses.
It just don't compute - and the crucifixion and rising time-line is ONLY one thing she is in error about - though a major one, because of its Sunday implication.
I believe she was a Christian, a true promoter of the Sabbath, etc, and a great, prolific writer, and compiler of info of the day (like heath topics) - a human computer, especially for her day. God absolutely worked miracles in her life as he has in you and I. She conveys in a special way the Love of God, but she in no way was a prophet, in whatever word one may choose. Much of her expounding, teaching, and writing (counsels) were in line with the Testimony of Jesus - the SOP, but some of her teachings, preaching, and counsels were not in line with the Testimony of Jesus -The Word - The SOP. She (her writings) absolutely was not the SOP. That belief is ant-Biblical. I will clearly say that she was not a liar (as some have said) - Although she wrote some erroneous things in several of the areas she wrote about. She was extremely adamant about her counsel.
When she writes that to give up the SOP (her counsels) is to give up one of the 4 pillars, causes problems, and does not let one use their free will - God gave us a free will. This was of the utmost importance to Him.
I like what is in the COG7 statements of belie f-
"We believe in granting liberty of thought, and in speech, and we stand for an open forum...doctrine shall in all cases be according to the Holy Scriptures. We believe in examining EVERYTHING in the light of the Bible, weighing everything in the balance of the Bible and if it WILL NOT STAND THE TEST, REJECT it, but if it WILL stand the test, ACCEPT IT. We believe that the Bible IS ITS OWN COMMENTARY. OTHER BOOKS may be helpful BUT ARE NOT INSPIRED in the same sense as& the Bible. Tradition is not considered as valid truth. ...
I love the words, "The Bible is its own commentary"-- I thank God for His patience and His awakening us (ALL) who seek Truth. When I read all the letters on a4t.org; the 2007 ones really show how true seekers (the minority, as always) will find the truth if they truly seek, just as we are promised in the Bible.
I don't want to personally offend anyone, but the "Ed White / Imad types" (and again, I only use their names as current examples) are so into as you say, 'their golden calf' that they blind themselves, but the truth has to be presented. Even if you and I disagree with each other or another, if a writing is in line with the Bible ONLY (and Ellen White is set aside when seriously studying out a Boble subject) a spark WILL be ignited - the key is to set Ellen White aside, and further investigation may prove or disprove a Biblical topic, BUT to actually take the words (as Imad did) and distort something to support a programmed, long held Ellen White belief over the Biblical account is something I can't understand! My wife, of which 99.8% of SDA's are like - there is no difference in being a Conference or Independent believer, in this regard. THEY WILL unite in that area - That kind of uniting is uniting with Protestantism, and therefore that road WILL eventually lead one to Rome.
I look at the stand Bill Stringfellow took - the non-popular, but true - no trinity vital truth - He stood his ground.
Bob, just think about those who don't like what we have presented - some have become mean spirited - you can tell in their words. How far would they go...?
