John 14-16 Part IV

Love

Read John 15:12-25
1. What was the key command Jesus gave in his commission to the disciples? Verses 10, 12, 17.

1a. Why do you think Jesus emphasized love so much? Cf verses 18-19; Romans 12:16-21; 1John 4:1-6 {antichrist is a Greek word. In English it means against or in place of the anointed. Christianity is the only religion that teaches that Jesus, the Son of God, came as a human being. Other religions & the worldly worship other gods in place of Jesus. John also said, For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world, 1John 2:16; Neither is Christianity immune to the spirit of error and the concept of antichrist, 1John 2:18-20. What is the source of your anointing (KJ unction)?

1b. Verses 20-21: What group of people is implied by persecuting Jesus? People of the world, or the church?

1c. Verses 22-24: What is implied as to how God views the sins of mankind? Matthew 11:21-24 {No record of sin kept by God; People will be judged based on the knowledge vailable to them. When truth is shared with a person, they do not remain neutral; Eventually, they will move toward the truth or away from it.}

Read John 16:5-15

2. What is the work of the Holy Spirit and how is it accomplished?
John 16:8; John 7:16-18

a. Sin: whatsoever is not from the faith of Christ is sin, Romans 14:23; Galatians 2:16 KJ only
