Genesis 26:5 —
Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.
Why was Abraham acknowledged for keeping God’s Law and precepts when he did not have access to the Law, statutes nor His commandments? Was then the Law, statutes and commandments literal or spiritual for Abraham and his descendants?
Matthew 5:17 —
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
Christ stated emphatically that He did not come to this world to change even one dot or tittle of the Law. So, if this is the case, was the Law in Christ’s day understood as a literal or spiritual Law?
Why would Christ make this statement if the Law was indeed, literal, as it was being observed by the Jews and all Christians today? Which John was He referring to?
Luke 16:16 —
The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.
Romans 7:14 —
For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.
Was this evident or known during the time of the Old Testaments and the prophets?
Isaiah 53:11 —
He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
Galatians 2:16 —
Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
Christ is called our High Priest by Paul numerous times in Hebrews 8 & 9. Was then Christ in fact our High Priest, even if symbolically? If so, of which tribe were the priests from and from which tribe was Christ?
Hebrews 9:11 —
But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;
Hebrews 7:12 —
For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.
Which change in the Law would this be referring to?
Romans 6:14 —
What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
Romans 7:4 —
Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.
To honor our heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, are the Ten Commandments to be kept in the manner that they are being kept by all if not most denominations today?
Romans 7:6 —
But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.
Will any of our Works (keeping the literal Law of God as well as the Creeds imposed by denominations have any eternal merit?)
Romans 14:17 —
For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
2 Corinthians 3:6 —
Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
Perhaps this verse answers this question best:
Colossians 2:16 —
Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
I think that the above verse now allows us to better understand the significance of the text a couple of verses prior to it.
Colossians 2:14 —
Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
John 6:63 —
It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
Titus 3:9 —
But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.
Is the Seventh-day Sabbath excluded from this Spiritual application or is it possible that denominations, because of their creeds will purposely not be considered to be True and from God?
